About Chris
I was born on May 16, 1986, in Charlottesville, Virginia, and have spent nearly my entire life in Orange County. Except for my four years at Virginia Tech, this community has always been my home—and I’m proud to call it that.

My roots in Orange County run deep. Both of my parents, Laurie and Steve Herndon, graduated from Orange County High School in 1978 after attending Orange County Public Schools from kindergarten through 12th grade. After college, my mother dedicated over 30 years to teaching in the Orange County School System, and my father spent more than three decades as a local car dealer. My brother Patrick and I followed in their footsteps, graduating from OCHS in 2004 and 2008, respectively. I earned my bachelor's degree in Business Consumer Studies from Virginia Tech in 2008.
My wife, Beth, and I began dating during high school in 2003 and have been together ever since. We both attended Virginia Tech, where I earned my bachelor's degree and Beth earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees. We got married in July 2008 and returned home to Orange County to build our life and careers. Beth has been teaching at Orange County High School since 2008, and I joined the family business at Herndon Chevrolet before transitioning to entrepreneurship.

In 2013, Patrick and I purchased Orange Tire, Inc. Over the past twelve years, we’ve grown our team, doubled our staff, and proudly employ many Orange County residents and OCHS graduates. Supporting the community is a core part of our business—we sponsor numerous local youth sports teams and organizations.
Beth and I are raising three boys who currently attend Orange Elementary School, Prospect Heights Middle School, and Orange County High School. Our family is actively involved in 4-H livestock and dairy clubs, the Orange Fire travel soccer club, and school athletic programs. I volunteer regularly, managing soccer teams, coaching youth football and basketball, and supporting 4-H activities.
I’m running for the Board of Supervisors because I care deeply about Orange County—its people, its future, and its values. As a small business owner, a parent, and a lifelong resident, I understand the importance of a local government that listens, leads with integrity, and puts the community first.

I’m committed to showing up, listening to your concerns, and ensuring your voice is heard in every decision that affects our neighborhoods. Together, we can protect what makes Orange County such a special place to live, work, and raise a family.

Priorities
A Common-Sense Vision for Orange County’s Future
Investing in Our Kids and Their Future
Every child deserves access to a strong public education. I’ll work to ensure our schools are places where students can thrive—with safe, modern classrooms, upgraded facilities, and opportunities for every student to succeed. That includes expanding career and technical education (CTE) programs that prepare young people for good-paying jobs right here at home.
Strengthening Our Rural Roots
Our farmers and landowners are the backbone of Orange County. I’ll fight for policies that protect their way of life, support local agriculture, and preserve the land that defines who we are.
Supporting Local Businesses and Jobs
I’ll champion small businesses and family-run operations that drive our economy and provide jobs for our neighbors. When our local businesses grow, our whole community benefits.
Investing in Parks and Recreation for Families
Safe, well-maintained parks, sports fields, and recreation centers give our kids healthy outlets and our families places to connect. I’ll work to improve these spaces so they serve every generation.
Standing with First Responders
Our EMS teams, fire departments, and sheriff’s office are on the front lines every day. I’ll make sure they have the tools, training, and support they need to protect our families and neighborhoods.
Putting Orange County First
I believe in practical, community-based solutions—not one-size-fits-all mandates. I’ll always put the people of Orange County first—because this is our home.
